For the short story 'The Book of Sand' I sought to create an interesting layout inspired by the story and its symbolism. I chose to use black and white imagery overlayed with pale brown/taupe type and overlays reflecting the colors that sand sometimes displays. The pull quotes highlight important moments and themes in the story and the extended line on the 'E' on page 4 exaggerates the quote. The angles seen throughout the spread were influenced by the shapes that sand dunes take and the front cover pulls the piece together, continuing those diagonals while also forming the figure of a book.
