About Team Jules:
As Co-Founder and Web & Media Director of 4Jules, I build and maintain our organization website and instagram, as well as design all apparel, logos, etc. "4Jules” is a charity honoring a friend who passed from Mitochondrial Disease, dedicated to providing joy to children and adults with disabilities through accessible books, games, and crafts. Team Jules is my opportunity to spread the hope, strength, kindness, and positivity that my close friend, Jules, exemplified each and every day. I am continuously reminded of how powerful collaboration is, and the importance of using my passion for design and visual communication into purpose.Graphic Solutions and Design Logic:
When starting with this project, I knew it was important to include butterfly symbolism and Jules' favorite color, purple, in the designs. The creative process consisted of lots of trial and error, experimenting with what colors would work with the purple, and how we could incorporate other meaningful symbols. I found ways to use both the butterfly, which represents Jules' legacy, as well as the green mitochondrial disease awareness ribbon.
The handwritten script font in the 'Team Jules Forever' design allows for the 'J' to act as the body to the butterfly and makes the logo feel more personal and elegant. With the 'Strong Like Jules' design, I sought a more bold and powerful layout to express the strength of Jules and any fellow Mito warriors.
Team Jules has hosted two apparel fundraisers for which I designed the logos and provided the apparel company with all files and creative direction. My main priority with our team's website was easy navigation. It was important to Team Jules that our site would express a sense of community and share our love for Jules and this cause. This was accomplished by including many photos and in-depth project pages that continue to spread our mission and work.
